Watch Dogs 2 emerged as Ubisoft’s proving to the world that it could make open-world games more exciting than ever before. Taking on the theme of rebellion against the system, Watch Dogs 2 comes more radically than its predecessor’s game theme.
This bold effort from the Ubisoft Montreal team has its advantages and disadvantages, and I hope this review can give you its own consideration before diving into the actions of the hipster hacker group in Watch Dogs 2.
Watch Dogs 2 carries a theme that is quite contrasting to the first Watch Dogs. Gone is the vigilante theme that is thick with revenge and vigilante action. Instead, Watch Dogs 2 presents the theme of rebellion by a herd of young people affiliated with the collective hacker group DedSec.
Ubisoft Montreal packaged this act of rebellion interestingly through a handful of parodies of famous technology companies that we encounter in the real world. You will find a Google parody called Nudle, a Facebook parody that Invites replaced, SF Drive as a parody of the Uber service, and others.
Through a combination of themes and uniqueness, Watch Dogs 2 positions itself as an open-world game that is in the middle of the boundary between the presentation of realistic and virtual worlds, but does not want to be too impressed seriously in the eyes of its players.
In Watch Dogs 2 you play Marcus Holloway aka Retr0, a clever hacker recruited as a new member of the San Francisco branch of DedSec. As the main character, Marcus Holloway is frankly much more interesting than Aiden Pearce, the protagonist of the previous Watch Dogs game.
Marcus is described as a spontaneous person who often complains about the situation around him. In addition to being equipped with higher mobility through his parkour capabilities, Marcus also has two radio control devices that greatly help the hacking process.
